Hey

To far from the truck?. I think it looks good. Question, why not even push it out even further from the truck, then weld in a solid plate in the middle and mount a winch?. Seems to me a truck like that(if actually used what its built for) would need a winch up front?. I think it looks good, basic, strong, perfect!

Yeah i didn't want it sitting to close to the body because under "flex" situations the bumper will hit the fender. Atleast the cheap LMC chrome bumper did. Probably a little frame flex as well...

It should look really good when its done. I doubt i will add a winch, to many other things to spend money on like building a nasty stroker.

I'm thinking of giving it a coat of Herculiner when completed. Anyone done this?

Bracket. I figured (4) 9/16" grade 8 bolts would do it.

nice lookin bumper Jesse, looks like some fine welding and fab skills!!! now for the other side.... you guys drive me nuts with these c channel bumpers, i know they are tough, easy and cheap, but..... our trucks have all these nice curves, and rounded corners and bodylines, then ya go and toss a sharp, hard edged piece of channel on there. I am not beating you down, it is nice. I just think a piece of rectangular tube split down the length and then notched and welded up in the same manner would give you a rounded nice looking edge, not to mention it would be less prone to flaking paint on the break! hell someone could buy one piece of 6x sq tube and build to bumpers. one to sell after the fact and pay for both. Maybe i am just picky because i work for a steel distributor and can get the stuff so easily. Maybe i will just belly up and build a bumper for my truck even though i dont need it yet. again, i am not beating on you, i just thought that would yield a more eye pleasing bumper, your work looks great and your bumper looks equally good. thanks for my .02 Dan

I'm gonna try my hand at bumpers this fall/winter

Probably a ranch hand-esque rear bumper, and thinking about some sort of fabbed plate front bumper (1/8" thick) with provisions for tow hooks and such.
