today i was going down the road, truck was running just fine when suddenly it just died. So i pulled off the side of the road and tried to start it again. It would crank over just fine, just would not start. after about 15 minutes of tinkering with it. it started but was running rough (spitting and sputtering). I managed to pull into a parking lot and left it there to go and get some tools with a friend. when i came back about an hour later. the thing fired right up and so i took it home only to have it die while idling in the drive way. But i did notice that while on the way home the oil pressure would rise when i was going down the road, but would drop when sitting at a stop signs. I checked oil quantity and it was full. there are not any leaks either. Just changed oil 1500 miles ago. ANY HELP IS MUCH APPRECIATED.
What coon said... Check the harness.... If you already havent.... carefully pull the harness that plugs into the gasket, Then....smell it. If any four of them smell burned that would be a problem.
check that cps also. If it has never been replaced that would be of concern.
Our 97 7.3 would surge, you could watch it on the tach, while idling then die like you shut the key off. Turned out to the the cam sensor at 115,000 then again at 200,000
