When I cranked and started on my way this morning , the "ABS" light never went off.
If I crank with my foot on the brake the light does not stay on... but when I take my foot off brake the ABS light comes on. Brake fluid Ok -- not low.
Think I should say a few day ago , I washed off the engine with just water to wash off some of the dust. Engine was cold and I did not crank it for a few days. With this Texes weather things dry fast-- it is hot.
If you think something is shorting out ;; please tell me where the part is ..not just the so & so part.
When you sprayed the engine down, tell us what parts you covered. If you didn't cover anything it may be time to swap some fluids. There are breather holes in most of those fluid caps.
The only way to tell for sure would be to hook up a scanner and see if you can find what the computer is trying to tell you. What part of Texas? Maybe there is a member close by that can pull the codes for you.
Does your speedometer still work fine? I'm 15 miles North of Hillsboro. There's a good chance I'm going to Wylie tomorrow to look at a front end loader, and I'll probably be up near your area one day next week. I've got an AE scanner. If you're interested I'll let you know when I'll be in the Richardson / Plano area and maybe we can hook up during the day and get your truck scanned.
Just an update for any future searches. I stopped by earlier this week and we found a C1230 & P0500 code. Everything pointed to the VSS on the rear diff. I just got word from Charlie that cleaning the VSS did not help, but installing a new one has him running again with no ABS light.
