Well I got everything hooked up using this setup.https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...gh-idle-3.html Had a few problems at first and had to resolder some wires. Now I got the switch mounted and when you turn it on and set it to a certain RPM, it will idle up and down by itself. Also when I first hooked it up when you turned the switch on the pedal wouldnt work while you had the switch on but now it will work with the switch on. I'm starting to think my switch is messed up. Any ideas?
My switch is a bit "touchy". It has to be turned almost 1/4 the way for the idle to increase and does vary slighty after being set. No surge in idle though. I think this is in the switch and you are probably seeing something similar. I did get my variable POT switch and other parts, from Radio Shack, instead of Mouser.
I got my switch from mouser Roland. Scott I was just out fooling with it and it didnt change idle speed from where I set it, but know sometimes you gotta turn it almost all the way max out on before it does anything and then other times you turn it half way and it idles up. Is this switch and the truck just that touchy? Is that normal? I didnt think about the variation in the idle speed being the AC clutch kicking in but that was probably what I was hearing. When I'm turning the switch on I'm turning it pretty slow and thats what it does sometimes. Other than that it works great! Definetly helps keeps the AC cold!!
What value resistor are you using, or are you using one? Mine was also a little inconsistant sometimes, but I found that I could make it more reliable changing the resistance value. The guy I learned to build the AIC from uses a 2.2k ohm. That didn't work as well on my truck so I also tried a 3.3K before I settled on a 4.7k. You've got room to play with it if it doesn't behave the way you want it to.
I had a 4.7k in it and yesterday I changed it out for a 3.3k and it does alot better. It will idle up to about 1600rpm when I turn it all the way so thats good enough for me. Dont want it to go any higher. Now I just gotta make a sticker to put behind it to let people know what it is and to not fool with it. Any ideas why the pedal wouldnt work with the switch on to start with and now it does? Not that it matters, I was just curious.
