My back-up lights don't work. I was going to get a new neutral safety switch (back up switch) but, everything but the light part about it seems to be in order. So, i'm just going to keep it the way it is.
For my lights however, I took the wire heading to the lights and extended it, putting it through the firewall and now it's sitting on my truck seat.
I'm going to get a switch, so when I turn it on, the lights come on (for when i'm going to go backwards)
However, I need a power source. Where is the best place to hook up a wire so I can hook that power wire to the switch?
I usually just stick the power wire in the fuse block. Use the ignition fuse for keyed power and lighter for constant power. Or wire it into one of those things too.
I would just use the power feed wire that was feeding the backup light switch on the auto tranny. That way you are just replacing one switch with another switch.
My truck has a C6, do you really have a C4 in a 1985 F150 4.9?

How am I supposed to wire into that?
And what do you mean wire it into one of those things too?
I strip the end of the wire and stick it in the fuse block where the fuse goes then stick the fuse in and it should hold it in place. I hate splicing wires so when I wire tachs in I just do this. What I mean by wire it in is you can trace where the power wires go for either the ignition switch or the lighter, there should be studs sticking out and just put en eye end on the wire and bolt it on the stud. Either way it should not move.
