I have a 2006 F250 6.0 with 45k miles on it. I have a Procomp leveling kit, 33" toyos 20" rims and a steering stabilizer. I recently installed the stabilizer and am very happy with it. However, not more than two weeks later I am having some serious banging noise coming from the front end while turning. I mostly notice it under slow turns, when it is more difficult to turn. It happens every time when I turn the wheel while stationary. It is a loud bang, that I can feel in the wheel as well. I am not sure if it is a track bar bushing or the king pin. I am not to familiar with these parts and need some advice. The truck still drives straight and really don't notice anything wrong until I make slow turns. Did the stabilizer cause this? It seems like maybe there is too much tension in the front end. Here is a pic of where the noise somewhat originates from. Notice the large screw head, where it looks like the track bar i believe connects... it starts there and travels further up towards the steering box. Thanks for the help!
Sounds like a loose track bar. It needs to be super tight, like 300+ ft lbs. Someone here can chime in with the exact number, but normally, that is why it pops.

Is the track bar meet right there at that enormous screw? If so I will try tightening it up tom. Thanks!
Well when I jacked up the front end last week the wheels were tight. There was no side to side or up and down movement. I will be checking all the bolts under there today to see if something has loosened up.
Question for you. When the leveling kit was installed was the bolt for the trac-bar even removed? If not, I highly doubt that the problem lies there because with the amount of torque that is on that thing it is not going to just loosen up.

I am not sure... I needed an alignment after the leveling kit was put it. I have a feeling I should take it in to a 4x4 shot and have them dial this thing in.

Did you install the leveling kit? If you didn't install it take it back to who did and have them check everything out. The track bar doesn't even need to be removed to install a leveling kit.

I had the kit put on over a year ago, more like a year and a half. I am sure they won't even look at it. After the install though the truck ran much stiffer, and the steering was more loose. There was more play in the wheel.
Ok, well it was a loose track bar. The guy also dialed in more caster to get the truck to come back to center easier. He also changed out bushings on the top where it looks like the power steering line comes into the brake on the picture I had posted. I forget the name of that bushing. He also did an alignment. The total was $200 and wow what a difference. No more noise at all. The steering feels tighter, it returns to center much easier, the truck no longer wanders, and overall feels more stable. Glad I got that work done! Thanks for the help guys!
