This is the latest that I've heard. MERCON V is now the correct fluid for any application that used to require MERCON. I've also read to NOT use synthetic, because it's to slick for our auto's. Good Luck with all the reading. lol

IIRC, a bunch of guys (myself included) run Mobli 1 synthetic ATF in their autos and haven't had any problems. Mine seems to shift a little better since it was put in.

That's an old wive's tale. It is NOT true.

If a fluid has a MERCON V rating it is just as slippery as any other fluid with a MERCON V rating. In order to get that rating a fluid manufacturer has to submit fluid to Ford for testing. One of the most important tests that Ford does is to see how slippery the fluid is. If it is too slippery Ford doesn't license them to use the MERCON V rating.

SO, could any Mercon flavor be used in our 99-03's.

Is Mercon 3 feasable to use?
