iv heard mercon 5 so mercon 3 would be fine no specilty ford atf u can buy at your local autozone?? and dam thats alot of readying i might have to go back to school for those directions lol
This is the latest that I've heard. MERCON V is now the correct fluid for any application that used to require MERCON. I've also read to NOT use synthetic, because it's to slick for our auto's. Good Luck with all the reading. lol

IIRC, a bunch of guys (myself included) run Mobli 1 synthetic ATF in their autos and haven't had any problems. Mine seems to shift a little better since it was put in.

If a fluid has a MERCON V rating it is just as slippery as any other fluid with a MERCON V rating. In order to get that rating a fluid manufacturer has to submit fluid to Ford for testing. One of the most important tests that Ford does is to see how slippery the fluid is. If it is too slippery Ford doesn't license them to use the MERCON V rating.

well i have mass dex on hand doesnt cost me anything u know for years iv always been a chevy fan only because couldnt afforad the f-350 i wanted except my advatar is my truck and only paid 10,000 grand for it,but dex lll is used in everything from pwr steering to trans to hyd oils to over the road trans and all most every trans in medium duty trucks so if all these vehicles rely on dex 3 {and i get it for free} lol then im just going to use it here in phx if my trans takes a **** i have a freind freind who i can get a factory rebuild for 900.00 at ford dealer ship my trans probally has 85,000 on it of course the reason why i got my truck so cheap was it was a salvage title whith now is a restored salvage still worth 80% of arrignal price but sence bought it it has a 12 inch lift good size tires bad *** wheels i wont get rid off it,thanks for all responces to thread it is very appreciated thanks guys.
