01 psd starts, runs rough then gets better

I got an 01 7.3 PSD with about 133k, no chip and I seem to be developing an issue on starting it in the morning.

I go out to the truck in the morning or the 1st time after it has sat at least overnight, start the truck and it will run rough for about 10 minutes. SES light will be on and it seems like it is missing, for lack of better way to describe it. Anyway, after it gets good and warm, SES light goes away and it runs like it always does. It doesn't seem to want to shut off, so I'm not thinking CPS, but I am thinking possibly UVC harness. Has anyone else had this where once it warmed up the issue went away?

Thanks in advance......

Could it be your HPOP reservoir leaking down, causing the rough running till the injector oil system gets filled back up? It shouldn't be the UVC, otherwise the problem wouldn't go away. It also sounds like you got air in the fuel line, but I don't know how that would ever develop without the lines leaking.

That light coming on will probably tell you. Scan for codes and see what pops up.

When was your last oil change? Do what Curtis said and pull the codes, an ses light will set a code.

Hasn't been long since last oil change, maybe 1200 to 1500 ago? The hpop leaking down makes sense, but how could I check that? I don't think I have air in the fuel line as I dont have any leaks, unless it is something strange....

You gotta take out the hex-key pipe plug on the top of the HPOP reservoir. The oil level should be about 1/2" from the top of the housing, 1" down MAX

I'm going to check that tommorrow, but if it is low, would that set off the SES light? If so, what code would I expect?

Fill the hpop with oil and montitor to see if it goes down. After filling see if it starts and runs better.

Im getting ahold of a code reader hopefully tomorrow, then I will know what code is being tripped, and I was thinking that I should make sure the hpop oil is at 1/2 inch.....then see what happens.

Thanks for the input....I at least know I'm on the right track...I hope! I'll post back up tomorrow with what i find....i'm still open to more ideas though....

I fixed it!

Here is what it was....#6 injector clip had come loose. I got it scanned and I got the code P1316, and the scanner had said something about #6, so I figured that was the direction to look. I pulled the drivers side vc and found that the uvc harness seemed to be plugged in good, so I started looking to see what else could be the problem. Looked closely at #6, and saw the clip wasn't locked on like the others. Locked it on.......put it all back together....and its fixed!

Thanks for everyones help......
