died like someone pulled out the key, just pulled 1280 Icp circuit out of range low
Possibly a bad ICP, but a sticking IPR will do that too. I know, it happened to my truck. Died like a faulty CPS, just suddenly would cut out. Set the P1280 code only once.
Try unplugging the wiring harness off the ICP sensor and crank the truck. With it unplugged, the PCM will load default values. If the truck still won't start, it's the IPR that's gone bad.
options? Dealer tow truck, home?or wait a while and see if it fires?
When I had a sticking IPR, the truck would sometimes fire up after sitting for about an hour or so. If yours ends up firing up again, drive it home and get a new IPR to throw in it. If it won't start, then you'll probably have to tow it home.
When my IPR failed, for what ever reason, holding the foot pedal down while cranking would sometimes allow it to start. If it does start, take it easy and get home.
Curtis. Will a bad IPR make it stall like someone just shut off the key? I had guessed it would stumble once or twice before dying.
Edit: Sorry I forgot you for a second Benny. 10 minutes is awfully close. Any buddies with a truck and a chain? Does your glow plug light function normally? Does the water in fuel light act funny? If you've got nothing better to do, you might wiggle the big wiring harness that comes up and over the drivers valve cover. Also check that harness above the VC to make sure it's not chaffing against a metal bracket. Chaffed wires is what left me on the side of the road.

Yep. Mine was stalling exactly like that. No codes, just sudden shutdown. Thought it was a CPS until it did it with the new one. Then it finally threw a P1280 code, so I knew then that it was an oil issue. The ICP sensor was new at the time, but I unplugged it just in case, but it had the same symptoms. So I narrowed it down to the IPR, and used the stalling issue as an excuse to my wife to buy big oil Just don't tell my wife what my whole scheme was

I agree with Barry. Give it a few minutes, clean it up again and see how far it gets you.
Sounds like the best fix for this is big oil, but you could probably get by with just a new IPR.
