heated mirrors switch location

I recently purchased a 2002 Excursion limited, 7.3L diesel, 107k miles. I see the heated mirrors icon etched on the outside mirror glass, but I don't see a specific switch for it. There is a parking/ backup alarm switch....what I assume is a rear defrost switch above it. The owners manual shows a switch looking similar to a rear defrost switch with an additional R on the logo,,, but I don't see anything resembling the icon shown in the owner's manual. where should the switch be? or is it tied to the rear defrost?

The heated mirrors come on when you turn the defrost on.

Actually unless the Excursion is different from the Super Duty, the heated mirrors are on any time the truck is running (or the ignition is in the on position).

Straight from the owner's manual:

Heated outside mirrors (if equipped)
Both mirrors are heated
automatically to remove ice, mist
and fog when the rear window
defrost is activated.
Do not remove ice from the mirrors
with a scraper or attempt to
readjust the mirror glass if it is
frozen in place. These actions could
cause damage to the glass and mirrors.

Well, I guess the Excursions are different than the Super Duties. Evidently since the Super Duty doesn't have a rear window defroster Ford just decided to have them run all the time rather than giving us the switch

They did finally add a switch for them to the 2008 Super Duty.
