Dealers offering NADA on trade-in?
Hey all,
A few years ago when I wasn't looking for a truck, I got a letter in the mail from a local dealer that I'd done some business with. They had a program where they were offering NADA value guaranted on your trade in if you bought a new vehicle from them.
This morning it was jogged in my memory by a radio ad. A local Harley dealership is offering 10% above NADA on your trade if you buy a particular model they're trying to push.
I'd love if this came back. Now I am looking for a new truck but can't buy anything because I've lost all the value in my existing because of the way the market has gone ... right when dealers can't give diesel pickups away
Anyone else hear of anything like this?
Let me know, even if you're on the opposite coast I'd drive 3,000 miles for such an offer!!

I test drove at a local dealer last week. This week I got a letter from them telling me how valuable my 03 is to them, how they desperately they need used vehicles, and that they'll give me top dollar for my trade. That's sure a different story than what I hear on these boards.

i was told by the dealers that nobody uses the nada anymore. they all use the "black book"
they all just jump on the auction website and wing out some rediculously low number.
nada shows my truck listing at around $12000
dealer #1 offered $4500
dealer #2 offered $6000
absolutly rediculous around here. dealers just don't want to sell anything i guess.

KBB...Nada...EDMUNDS...are only guides that don't necessarily reflect true market value on a vehicle. The true market value is set by folks who buy them at any one of the dealer auctions across the nation. No matter how nice your particular vehicle is...there are some that are just as nice each week at the auctions. If your vehicle is selling at auction for $10,000 and the "BOOKS" say it's worth $14,000...who's right??? Until the "BOOKS" will write you a check...it's the auctions...whether you like it or not.
The truth of the matter is that there are a lot more trucks than buyers...both new and used. Some dealers are offering $15,000 or more off the price of a new truck!!! That pricing strategy has a trickle down affect on the entire market.
When you research on line how much your trade is worth...when you find the top price...look for the "Print Check" button...I haven't found it yet!!!

Hi Ken,
i do realize that there are fluctuations in the market, especially now. I'm not here to **** anyone off or anything. My big issue is that my truck book value is around $13000. when the dealer comes back and tells me he can only give me $4500, it seems like a big ripoff. combine that with the fact that this dealer had one 2 years newer than mine, comperably equipped with more miles on it and they had it on the lot for $16995.
