X-plan for the asking
Two weeks ago we started shopping for a truck for my pa-in-law. We found out that we had missed the A-plan pricing offer from Ford by 5 days. I figured that if I called Ford and asked for the discount the worst that they would do was say no. Of course that was the answer for the A-plan.
However the customer service rep. suggested that maybe we might qualify for the X-plan. Alas we do not work for any of the partner companies in the program. She then offered to submit a request for an exemption and see if we might be granted a PIN. Now we had a couple of things going for us in that we wanted to buy a new truck and we are a loyal Ford family who own 4 Fords. In fact we have owned 7 Fords over the last 10 years. Jump forward a day and the phone rings at work. It's the CSR with the good news that we got the PIN number.
The X-plan discount along with the current rebates available ($7,500) resulted in savings of more than $10,500 on the new truck. That was an additional $3k for a 20 minute phone call.
