I have noticed on here there seems to be a distaste in lmc truck, can anyone fill me in on this before I buy any parts from them.I live in northern nova scotia and these trucks are getting harder and harder to find parts for.most trucks either being crushed or restored with the odd few rusting in the bushes.any info would be great thanks.
Many of the parts sold through LMC are foreign-made, poor quality, and very overpriced compared to other vendors that sell the same foreign-made parts.
I was wondering if that had anything to do with it,they have front fenders for $499 and up until a year ago you could buy them from ford for $100.I had gotten a couple cataloages from them but have yet to order anything.who would you suggest buying from.shipping from any of them will be a killer for me but that can't be helped.thanks fmc for your info.
Any one of the sponsors of the FTE site is good, Dennis-Carpenter.com has a-lot of OEM ans NOS parts, but blueovaltruckparts.com and NPD will work just as well.
I can say from experience that LMC isn't as concerned about the quality of their parts as they are just selling lots of them. I've had a number of parts from them that were either poor quality, didn't work, didn't fit, etc.
To be fair, they do have a fairly decent return policy, but that doesn't really make up for selling garbage in the first place. They tend to forget that the concept of selling "restoration parts" is so that you can RESTORE your vehicle to it's original condition, or better.
To date, the parts from them that I can remember that weren't worth diddly were: tailgate latches, door shells, outer door handles, hood, ALL weatherstrip, and carpet. I'm sure I have more I can't remember, but I've had enough problems from them that I'll not be purchasing anything else from them again.
Vendors like Dennis Carpenter, Blue Oval, Jeff's Bronco Graveyard, Greene's Auto Sales, F-Funhundreds, etc. are a better way to go. Granted, they all sell aftermarket stuff too, so it's always a crapshoot, but the parts I've gotten from these other vendors, especially places like Dennis Carpenter, are typically superior in quality.
wow this post got some attention in a hurry.any aftermarket body panels I get from my local parts store they can get just about anything thats made.but I was going to get some weather stripping from them and maybe a front bumper.but I guess I will get that elsewear.thanks for your opinions, always eager to here them.
Oh great , I just ordered a harmonic balancer for a 302 from them $64 bucks , should I be worried ? I would think a harmonic balancer should be fine from them , just the other parts right ? Also ordered a speedo cable and they said nothing about pre lubing it and it went dead in 6 months and they sent me a new 1 free , I lubed that 1 and been fine so far .
One good thing I will say about them, though, is that they are good for miscellaneous odds and ends that you don't want to spend all day driving around to 4 different hardware stores for (rod lock clips, wiper washer fittings, etc).
well even if there return policy is good I like to get the right or good parts first time.so I think I'll take everyones advice and order elsewhere.a friend of mine and I are actually going to look at three trucks this weekend to take what we want of them so I hope to find some treasures.

My first weatherstrip (cab) kit was from LMC, and it was very stiff and hard to compress (very high durometer when I checked it at work). Luckily, I hadn't ordered any of the other weatherstripping or other rubber products yet, so I ordered all the rest from Dennis Carpenter, as well as new cab weatherstrip, and am very pleased with the quality. That's not to say that one of the aforementioned vendors' products wouldn't be good also, just no experience with them yet.
I've ordered the "odds and ends" from them and have been happy. I would not order body panels, weatherstripping, or anything else that has a "appearance" purpose. I did, however, order the door glass for both sides along with the glass track and was impressed. They were packaged well and looked and fit great. Most other stuff I've ordered was from NPD, AutoKrafters, Dennis Carpenter, and Broncograveyard.
I ordered a taillight, outside weatherstrip sorta thing, and a parklight. I think that's it. just like they said odds and ends. everything fit fine and I wasn't ever mad with them. today I finally got my NPD parts catalog so I probably won't ever order from LMC again, but I'll still order their catalogs.
I've gotten a few ok things from LMC, but I kept it to some small things. I had a much better experience from Blue Oval Truck Parts. I think there is a good reason for LMC having a good return policy
