LMC or NPD

I have been trying to compare prices to purchase items for my truck, specifically door glass channels and window seal kits. There is a HUGE difference in the pricing between the two. I even called NPD to verify that they were the same parts as what I had found in LMC catalog. My concern is that the quality is much poorer than LMC or is LMC just that expensive.

Any one had experience with either and advice??

Check out Dennis Carpenter for rubber and seals. I've heard they are pretty good.

I typically go with DC if I want original tooling or their pricing is similar to LMC. I have also used LMC window and door seals and they worked well. Folks often bad mouth LMC and they do have some cheap stuff, but I've also ordered parts from LMC and when I got the box, it had a Dennis Carpenter lable crossed out.

Cab rubber

Maverick,
I bought the Kits from LMC for the windshield/backglass and also the door kits. I have the fat chrome trim and the windshield looks awesome and no leaks. I did not use the one for the rear glass because my chrome was A.F.U. As for the door glass kit, it all is great but my only complaint is that the pieces that go in the door ( long pieces from front to rear) didn't exactly match up at the rear above the door handle. As far as the trim that goes in the channel that the glass sildes in. Money. I am redoing my truck like I want, not for the perfectionist. Build what you can and buy what you can afford. In my opinion, LMC isn't bad. I think alot of dent heads here bash them because it is not "official FORD". Just my 2 cents or 3. Look at my pics on " the lone ranger build, dakota style".

The kit from LMC is 149 i think and the same stuff from NPD is 69.97. Huge difference for the same parts thats including the strips on either side of the glass. Makes you wonder what the difference in quality is.

I havent used the seal kits from LMC, but have used the stuff from DC and their stuff is great quality. The taiwan parts are going to be a hit and miss. I have heard guys haven't had any trouble but also guys who have had bad luck. I too was originally gonna go with cheaper stuff but decided against it and went with DC knowing the quality and less chance of leaks.

I've only bought from NPD just because there down the street from me. They do sell parts packaged from DC also. Been very satisfied with NPD.

Hi Guys
I've used all of the suppliers many times and had good and bad experiences with them all.
The upshot is, do your homework. You have a computer. Take the time to shop.
For body panels, none will be as good as finding originals from an old truck (except floors and underbody patch panels, they are worth buying new).
For small parts it's a crap shoot. Pretty much all the switches and small stuff that the big suppliers stock, is the cheapest china crap. Try a local GOOD auto parts store to find some good stuff or find a donor truck/yard.
For rubber, Ive had the chance to compare DC vs LMC and there is no basic difference in the part.
I have not used Steele rubber products.
I like developing a relationship with my local parts store. But I'm lucky and have a real good old world type store close to me.
Have fun, it's a good thing restoring old stuff.

The only real thing i have heard from the cheaper seal kits is the belt line seals that clip on the door do not quite fit exact and the clips break easy. I knew the DC stuff is original tooling and the fit of everything was great with no problems. I was going to go with cheaper stuff for my 75 supercab, but my wife actually talked me into going with DC quality. Twice the price though, but at least for the winshield, rear glass, door antirattler kit, door seals, toolbox seal, supercab side window seals, vent window seals and a few small misc stuff, it was a flat rate $15 shipping. Really, the largest price difference between DC and LMC or anyone else was the antirattler kit and vent window seals. The other stuff was compareable in price.

I have no experience with either lmc or nod but I can give kudos to dc... I bought some rubber cab floor plugs a few years ago and just checked them out last week... Still soft and pliable. First aftermarket rubber anything that lasted so it seems legit.

As far as anti rattle kits.
I've only used the LMC offerings so far and have nothing bad to say about them. They work fine. I don't remember paying more for them.

Up till this morning I would have said LMC but I woke up to about 80000 packing peanuts all over my front yard because someone from LMC decided to go light on the tape job on the box. I guess while the UPS Guy was walking from the truck out front to my Front Porch it must have let peanuts go the whole way... Anyway I have had luck so far from LMC just a little torqued because of the peanuts...
