Rough Idle/Rough Acceleration
Started up the truck yesterday morning...cold in California, but only 35 or so. I get the SES light and a real rough idle. I warm it up, and start out. Rough Acceleration. I jam on the gas because it feels like a clog in the fuel line. Not much in the way of acceleration. Today that acceleration was better (but still real slow), but I still have the rough idle/acceleration problem. It sounds and feels like fuel filter. I changed the filter today. Start the truck and it runs fine for 30sec. Then back to rough idle. I took the filter apart again and check for blockage/misplaced gaskets. Replace and it runs fine for 45sec. Then back to rough.
I tried some diesel injector detergent...obviously that didn't do ****.
The problem seems to go away after the trucks been on for an hour, but comes back even then. It's not a temp issue. The fuel in the bowl is warm.
On the freeway, it's real rough in the mid/low-rpm band. The shudder is so bad on acceleration that unless it downshifts, the vibration rattles the trim off my stereo face. The acceleration gets better, but not good, at higher rpm. Still overall slow.
Any ideas?
I've been searching around and no one seems to have the same symptoms...but I'm gonna get it checked out tomorrow. I've exhausted my resources. I'll also look at EBP failure.
It also stalled on me twice today, so I think it's time for a CPS as well...
I'll letcha all know what happens.
Here's the codes. I'm searching them all seeing what I can find. But anything specific you could help me out with would be greatly appreciated.
PO 476 Exhaust Pressure Control Valve Performance
PO 1272 Cylinder #2 High to Low side Open
PO 236 Turbo Charger Boost Sensor-A Performance
PO 1316 IDM Codes detected
Thanks a lot for the help. You were right. I got the valve covers off and replaced the lil clips. Which were a bitch to get in there. But, got it all together and torque'd back down. Runs perfectly.
I refilled the power steering fluid...resevior was low. But I'm still having a steering problem. The steering stabilizer seems to be too much. I can't turn the wheel...to park. Haha...I know that's what it's made for. Is taking it off going to adversely effect steering? 6" lift with 35's, on 20 inch rims.
I was also thinking about trying some of the reccomendations on tightening the steering box.
Thanks again Tenn.
