Squeaking from Engine

Ok, so I've got a 99 Ford Explorer that has developed a squeaking noise coming from the engine. It is not the belt or any of the accessories attached to the belt because it makes the noise with the belt off.

We've put a steth on most everything we can think of and cannot pin point the problem. The car drives and runs fine, there is no performance issue.

The next thing we are going to try is changing the oil and running it with 4 quarts oil and 1 quart Marvels Mystery Oil to see if that can solve the problem.

Otherwise I'm at a complete loss.

Anyone have any ideas?

if its internal i might guess a timing chain adjuster?

Does the noise vary with the RPMS, and does putting the trans in gear have any impact on it?

What engine? And is it a squeaking noise or more of a chirping noise?

My 5.0 was making a loud intermittent chirping noise when the cam position synchronizer was bad.
