ok, here it is, new to diesels, just bought this 05' f-350 6.0l fx4, roughly 148k, haven't made the first payment, when it's been sitting overnight it's very hard to start, in fact, it probably wouldn't start if i didn't put my foot on the pedal, there's no smoke when starting or driving, i've changed the oil, which was nasty, the oil filter, fuel filters, air filter, all motorcraft, and read a thread on here about the egr valve, i removed it and cleaned the buildup, after all this, it seemed the first start was rough, but didn't need my foot to help it along, also, when driving down the freeway, between 55 and 70 it seems to buck or stutter, it's like having a trailer behind you that has slack creating a jerking back and forth, sometimes it's rough, and others it's slight. back to the starting, once it's warmed up, which seems to be about 10-15 min, it runs fine, seems to have a little more pep since the egr valve, any help on this is greatly appreciated
Get a code reader from an auto parts store and see if it is throwing any codes. It could be that the EGR valve itself is bad.
Also, if you get cleaner fluid into the inner parts of the EGR valve, it can cause problems. Lastly, you need to clean out the EBP tube, MAP sensor hose, and intake manifold when you clean the EGR valve.
I also highly recommend getting the latest computer flashes (PCM, FICM, ECM).
yea, did the code scanner, no codes, as for the egr cleaning, i paid close attention to the weep holes, but the other you mentioned i'll start doing, and a computer flash is what a buddy said to do, guess i'll start on the other things, then the flash, thanks.......
a re-flash by your local ford dealer will fix ur problem. the injector spool valves stick when cold, thanks to in part the nasty oil, but this re-flash cyles the valves to build heat and help them unstick, but beware u may notice a small fuel milage decrease.
