The end to the arguement is this. To date, no 4-stroke mountain snowmobile in stock form, will come near to the performance and ability that the 2-stroke sleds have.
The end.
Trail riding? Yes, perhaps a ski-doo gsx, or yamaha whatever will be a great sled...
no offense taken. There are different machines intended for different things. I bought a new Phazer 4-stroke for my wife a couple years ago, it was a hoot on a trail, but we do not trail ride very much so it got axed. It was a total submarine.
Ontario has a beautiful trail system that I hope to experience some day!!!

I dont know about the other brands, but I dont think Ski Doo makes a 4 stroke mountain sled.
Why? We know why, too heavy, too ackward, makes its power in the wrong area.
My father in laws expedition is still pretty slick though.
The smell of a 2 stroker for me is kinda part of sledding. I was talking to a buddy of mine and we have both sledded together since we were 10ish, and I asked him what he thought about a 4 stroke. He said he didnt think he could ever buy one, cause his riding gear wouldnt stink like snowmobiling after haha.
Also for what its worth, Im not arguing either side. I like em both!
The Biggest problem with 2 strokes is the oil. Its is the one thing I can't stand. I grew up on the smell like everyone else and love it. But the price is unreal. You add that to the price fuel and that is the one place where 4 strokes are better.
The real **** off is when you look at motorcross bikes and how far those four strokes have come. They Perform so much better the the 2 stroke bikes at the same weight.

Hmm interesting thought man, never thought of it that way, about the oil. My sled does use more oil then a 4 stroke for sure. Ah well!
