Stuck between a rock and hard place... We have the opportunity to take a week long bike trip, just momma and me. Planning to hit the west coast, wife has never been there. Only problem, stock seat on my Road King is not quite comfortable for her. So, scenario's are I either put out 3g plus my bike to get a slightly newer and less kms FLHTC (electra glide classic), which is the ultimate couch, or 400 buck gets me a new, more comfortable seat for her and me both... This is a brutal call!!!
Sherm that is an easy choice, You will enjoy the electra glide classic!
What a fun trip to take too, if I were you I would go one way out through banff, and on the way back head up through jasper, and stop on in on your way through saskatoon!
Sheldon has the right idea here guys... but I've got something to add.
If you're going through Banff, make sure you don't take highway #1 right through it... you'll be through in no time at all and won't be able to enjoy the rockies to their fullest extent.
My suggestion would be to take Highway #1 "A", which is a few miles north of the #1, but has a much longer and more winding feel to it due to the immense forrest and curvy road.
It'll take you much longer to get through Banff on the #1 A, but it'll be worth your time together.
We have our "going" route almost decided. We'll take the crowsnest through lethbridge into cranbrook, oosoyoos, and that southern region. On the return we're unsure which way to go. Mid to late september can be tricky through the passes, so we're considering going south into the states a little ways. I don't know what the landscape is like through the states though. Hate to end up with "boring prairie" style riding for the home coming...
