Good morning!
Anyone have an experiences with an 07 Kawasaki 750cc twin Brute Force or an 2002 Yamaha Kodiak 400 4x4 ?
I had a Yamaha Kodiak 400 ,it was a great running quad can't say enough about Kodiak......but water can get in the diffs if your not careful but I had no problem with it.
Dad has a 400 Kodiak I think it's a 2002. He has had no problems with it and it gets used a lot around the farm. It's put up with his and his four son's abuse without missing a beat. I haven't drove any other 400's but I think it's got pretty good power and a nice ride even if it doesn't have irs.
I dont think you will go wrong with any of them.
My opinion
Honda makes one of the best quads but rested on their laurels. They are now behind with features like independnet suspension and fuel injection; however they are still pricey (especially given that they dont have as many features). Our last quad was a 500 Honda Rubicon.
Yamaha is at the head of the industry now with their Grizzly models - indy susp, EFI, power steering, 2wd/4wd/full lock system
Suzuki and Kawi make awesome stuff, just never quite caught on to as much as the yamaha.
Can Ams - I know some guys with them and they make crazy power but havent heard enough feedback on long term reliability to comment.
Polaris and Cat were really lagging but have caught up somewhat - still behind in overall quality but a value leader.
Our trusted Honda died (we bought new in 2001 and made 11000 kms) and we bought a new Polaris 500 EFI with aluminum rims, independent suspension, 26" tires, and EFI for $7G. They ride better than most, are a bit heavy, look deadly (ours is stealth black). A few years ago I would have never considered one but at the same time as we bought our Honda, a friend bought a Polaris and they made 8000 miles on their's before selling it.
We use ours every day on the farm and we felt the Polaris was the best value. if price were no object we would have a 700 Griz w/power steering.
Ive really never personally experienced the polaris quads, but ive had many friends who did, and quite a few of them ended up having problems. Most of them were late 90's earl 00's though, so they could have just had some bad years through there too.
