it really is a pain, because our company buys and sells in both KG and LBS, it makes for confusion for the system because it needs the correct conversions all the time and costing mistakes can be hugh.

More room for errors and one little mistake can cause a big problem.

oh yeah, I already had to fix a 38 million dollar mistake, from a conversion of grams to lbs. at 5.00 per lbs.

Should have been $85,000.....

Let me tell you the reaction when somebody looked at inventory!!!!!!

I was just glad I didn't have anything to do with the conversion or the entry, but I did the fix.

Doing the ''fix'' can be bad enough at times........depending on what the fix is.

You know thats kinda funny how people think of that, to me celcius, and pretty much the rest of the metric system really makes alot more sense then the imperial, especially when it comes to measuring, although I still use the imperial system about half the time!

I always though so too, but they never fully implemented here in the states, now we still have it both ways, which is a pain, logistics wise.

Actually, isn't the US the only country not using the metric system?

It seems that way doesn't it, we convert things into metric but we don't use it as a standard.

As far as I can tell, the rest of the world is TRYING to implement an international metric type system. You americans must be stubborn or something? haha (jk of course!)

Makes alot of sense if ya think about how the world is run now a days though, to have everyone using the same units of measurement.

I have never seen a reason why we don't use it, it would make things so much easier trade wise and universally accepted.

I'm going with the stubborn excuse.....
