Morning everyone. This is most likely my only day off for the next month or so, depending on if our new safety gear comes in at work in time for tomorrow.
So last week some time, there was a worker for MB Hydro in the south was subject to an arc flash. I don't know the full story but he was trying to install a hangging cable tray and of the ropes broke, sending the metal tray swinging into live high voltage equipment. He survived but after the incident happened, MB Hydro has recently put a stop to all electrical work with anything over 50 volts. My supervisor said when he was in one of his meetings with the other supervisors, engineers, and management, the term "nobody moves, nobody gets hurt" was actually used. So for the past three days at work, there wasnt much work that got done lol. From now on, while working on live equipment we must wear a faceshield and neck protector on top of our safe glasses, hard had, and our rubber gloves. And when we rack out high voltage breakers (remove them from their cells) we will be wearing bomb suits. Also, I figured now that I am a journey man, I figured I may as well have some authority to work on equipment myself. So last Wednesday I wrote the test I needed to in order to work on our low voltage equipment (750 volts and lower). It'll be a while before I find out if I passed because of that whole arc flash incident but I'm sure I passed (I hope lol).
Good luck with getting some rain Morris, fire bans suxk but they are for the safety of everyone.
What tattoos do you have Gerry if you don't mind me asking?
Sherwin, I must ask what made you want a tattoo? With all the choices now days, what made you choose an owl??
I use to want a tattoo, then I realized that it's stuck with you for life and by the time you're 70 years old, no one even knows what it is anymore lol. My dad has 1 tattoo, his real name is John but that was also his father's name. So as a child he was called Dino (like the dinosaur on the Flintstones), his middle name is Dean, so he has a small tattoo of Dino the dinosaur on his arm.
Randy I got an Eagle on my left arm when I was 15 yrs old, my Mom wanted to kill me, I lied to the guy & said I was 16
I have a 'little red devil' sitting on a cloud on my right arm I call it my 'Dirt Devil'
Morning boys. Morris, that pic made me throw up a little. We had a beautiful day quadding yesterday. A little sprinkle of rain this am, but supposed to clear off and be sunny/+11.
Interesting story Randy, another case of one moment of carelessness further immobilizing our society. Eventually safety BS will have us on a liquid diet, working from inside a bubble of protection. I would like to back up the clock a tad and be 30 years old back in 1985. Back when common sense was common, and not a curse word. The only good part about modern society is low interest rates.
Tattoos. In answer to "why the owl?" which I have gotten a lot . Simply, I like them. Pretty much top of the food chain, hunters, solitary birds with a simple question in life... Do they hold a significant celestial meaning for me? Not really, just as long as I can remember, I've always held an amazement for them. Now living in the country we see/hear them on a regular basis, and I'm very happy with that.
Why get a tattoo now? Honestly, I was brought up in a religious family that frowned upon all that stuff. Drinking, ink, piercings, hair coloring, dress code, blah, blah, blah. We won't get into a religious debate/discussion here, but lets just say that me and my family have since parted ways with that ideology, realizing that so many people with all these things we frowned upon and judged them for were actually less hypocritical than us living as "religious" people. How effed is that? Once the fear of going to Hell because of ink was gone, My true admiration for the artists began to peak, as has my wifes. She has a feather on her forearm done in an abstract color formation with the colors symbolizing our kids. There will be no names except perhaps for the passing of a loved one when that dreaded time comes.
Gerry will be from hence referred to as "Dirt Devil"
Morris, with that snow you should light up your burn patch.
Happy Sunday mornin'all. Took A trilaer load of yard junk to work and filled the bin. A heck of a lot cheaper than the $40.00 residential dump charge. We get 1 free dump then pay for the rest. I always give my one neighbor my free one. It helps to keep his yard presentable to me. Jordan broke his nose playing rugby yesterday morning. It's the second time in 5 yrs. I'm going to have to call him Muggsy. I told him no more rugby. It's high school and only cost $30.00. I pay over $600.00 for him for baseball. They lost 4 players to injury yesterday. So I have to protect my investment. His baseball coach would rather him quit too. We didn't have enough players our part of the city for a AA Midget team. St James asked Jordan to come play for them. They were in dire need for a catcher. He's very good, and they like him a lot. They also have one of the best Programs in the City. He's very happy. Have a great day guy's.
