High pitched whine from inside dash 2002 F150
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 16-Oct-02 AT 05:33 PM (EST)]I have a high-pitched whine sound (like a fan with a bad bearing/bushing) coming from inside the dash on my 2002 F-150. It is on ALL the time, and only goes away when the engine is turned off. It's NOT the HVAC blower fan because that system is completely off. The sound is very irritating, like the sound of one of those electric leaf blowers. It's not as loud of course, but it is audible above the radio normal volume and now that I know it's there I cannot hear anything else. This does not seem normal. Has anyone had this problem? Sounds like a warranty issue to me but of course the dealer would probably not hear what I hear and say it's normal.
Thanks

Are you certain it's not the Heater/AC blower? Not sure about the F150(I'll have to check mine), but I know that on many vehicles the fan stays on in low whenever the engine is on to provide a slight positive pressure to minimize the possibility of CO entering the passenger compartment.

That might be it. I can't feel any air flowing out of the vents but the sound is coming from inside the dash and I can't figure anything else would have a fan on it. The climate controls are all off, and the fan (or whatever it is) is on until the key is turned off. Guess I'll have to see what they find. Not thrilled about them tearing out my dash but the sound is annoying.
