Both of my 08's do this. They jerk a couple times when climbing a hill under load. They don't do it every time. Just wondering if this is the norm or to I have to go whine to the dealership.

Could you describe in greater detail? Did you tow before with a different truck. Some roads have bad wash boards on the uphills from tractor trailers and this causes a jerking motion. Or do you feel it in the drivetrain?
I have had the same experience usually towing but sometimes with only a 2K load in the bed. Usually I have it in cruise and try to accelerate and it gives me a jerking or coughing maybe from the turbo's or trying to find the right gear. It only happens sometimes and I can seem to replicate it on command. Let me know if you find out what it is and I will do the same. I live in Texas so hills aren't an issue and its not the roads.
Yep mine does the same thing?? I have been told to re-flash etc. I have an intake on it and thought that might have something to do with it?? I am going to try a few different things because it sucks when towing a big load. Mine does it really bad about 1/4 throttle on flat land as well. I thought maybe driver error but it does it even worse with the cruise set around 2K RPM..... I have a 6spd stick. Mine does it a bit solo so I should be able to show the dealer the problem. I will keep you posted.
For the first time the other day, towing 17k for 1300 miles, mine did once during a climb on an entrance ramp for about 8 seconds in 3rd gear. I've never felt it before. Never felt it go into regen during the 1300 miles. Felt it might have been going into regen during this point. Except for that one time it has towed perfect for the other 4,000 miles
My 08 seems to jerk while upshifting and down shifting into 3rd gear mainly while towing, but also does it without a load. It seems to slip a bit and then slams into gear... The truck is currently at the dealership for that concern and other issues like: both front axle seals are leaking, transmission, paint peeling, door window trim loose, peeling undercoating, 7 way trailer plug faulty, and interior front map lights falling out of headliner. To think that i baby this truck compaired to my 99!
What job build were your trucks, Job one builds had programming issues that were fixed in a reflash, as memory serves, the issue was throttle surging and possiable rough idle at times.
I had transmission up shift quality, and hunting while towing in my Job 1 6.4L truck. I had the PCM reflashed detailed in TSB 07-17-3 last August. It was the end of the problem with the tranny. Last week I had a new reflash update with TSB 08-13-2 which supersedes TSB 07-17-3.
The reflashes fix a lot of funny symptoms so it is why I stay up to date on the reflashes.

Yep thats the one, One of the items TSB 08-13-2 was supposed to take care of was surging and better cruise control functions.
I haven't gotten to the dealer yet but I am going to have them do the 8-13-2 reflash and see if that helps. Has anybody done it yet and did it work?? Like I said mine does it really bad when towing but it is not a tranny shifting problem because I have the 6spd. Does anybody think the intake has anything to do with it??
I have read on other posts that this could be caused by "axle hop" or the drive shaft not being proper lined up when under load and the problem was solved by shimming the drive shaft contact point. Mine does this when starting under load (40 ft 5er) when i'm on a grade if i accelerate a little hard but if i ease off then no shudder.
