I remember reading some instructions for a DIY alignment on a Dana 60, but I can't find them using the search. Does anyone know how to do this? I'm almost done with my D60/RSK/SD spring swap, just waiting on a few more parts
You can get it close enough to drive to an alignment shop. The only thing you really need do is set the toe-in. I use a tape measure and set the front of the tires inward about 1/16 of an inch more than the rear of the tire.
The Castor and Camber should be close enough to drive it. The Castor is not adjustable. The Camber usually doesn't require changing once it's set. Most alignment shops will tell you the Camber can't be changed.... but it can. There are different degree bushings that can be installed onto the top of the upper ball joint...they just don't want to take the time to get it perfect.
Spin the tires while scribing a line down the center of the tire ...have it toe in an 1/8 to 1/4 ...,,turn the tie rod ends or the center link ,,to center the wheel...then have an alignment shop,,, take it from there ,,,,
