This is from when I was swapping the engine in my 72 F250, couldn't roll the hoist on the dirt so I had to move the engines out from under it-
Two FE 360s with cast iron 4BBL intakes. Just a little weight.
Hey, I did that before! It amazed me that it only took a 390 and C6 setting in the back to turn a Courier into a 10 mpg truck from a 25 mpg one. And I got to know the bump stops real well.
But seriously it looks to me like the extra 360 would look better in the front of the truck than the back.
The old girl looks good for her age, I mean the truck, as well as the motors. The motors are what, about 600 pounds a piece? Thats 1,200 pounds, you still should be ok. I don't know what the max is on a courier, but it should be at least be 1,000 pounds to qulify it as a half ton. If the tires aren't rubbing and you can still steer it and stop, go for it. Austraila still has the courier, I had a 1980 courier back in the day with the 2.3 lima, it was a great little truck.
I put the beds [made in Mississippi] on the trucks back in '81 down in Houston. Those things scared the bejezus out of me. They were nothing more that paint applied to an eggshell. Then my daughter started dating this long-haired 'Mexican' who was driving one and I became triple scared. Those trucks were too darn dangerous for my taste. Fast forward 20yrs... That 'Mexican' no longer has long hair but my grandson does, and both are driving PU's... but not a Courier, thank God.
Still, for an eggshell your's looks to be a clean old ride.
Nice job keeping it looking good.
