It is time for new tires. I am currently running a set of Nitto Terra Grapplers 285 75 16 E on my 02 F250 Crew 7.3. I liked this tire but I did not like the road noise. I do 95% on road with very little offroad. I am looking at the Toyo At Open Country, it only comes in D load range rated at 3,305lbs. It meets the specs on the door frame sticker. Any thoughts about running the D instead of the E range. I tow a 2500lb boat and trailer package. I do load my bed on to capacity. I can get the M/T tire but am a little worried about the road noise. Any thoughts or help would be great.
3305 lbs is higher than most D rated tires, you won't have any problem with them. I have Toyo ATs in 315/75/15 and they are rated at 3195 lbs I think, never had a problem. I keep them at the 50 psi max rating and they could probably go about 55-60 in the front safely.
Ive got Firestone Destination MTs. I swear by them, there not loud at all for MTs, wear like iron for how I drive them, and get me through most anything. There load range E, I load the bed most weekends with masonry equipment, sometimes over 1 ton and it handles fine. Plan on buying a new set next year.
Yeah, the Dura Grapplers. Also, Toyo owns Nitto and they use the same compound and very similar tread design between the Toyo AT and Nitto Terra Grappler, so I'm guessing they will have very similar road noise. That being said, I do not notice any road noise with my 315/75/16 Toyo ATs.

Get the Toyo MT's well worth it... Look better than the At's too...
My biggest concern over the D rated tire is the 8 ply sidewall. I may go with the Toyo MT's. I am leaning torwards the new Nitto Dura Grappler's, but I am a little worried that they might not perform well in fields or on muddy dirt roads.
