Display Light.

Does anyone know how to change the display light on the OEM am/fm/cassette. The display has been out for some time on the '89. I am getting tired of using a flashlight to check the station/time. I really like the factory radio that is in there, in other words I dont want to spend extra money for another stereo, this one works fine...

Display Light.

i replaced the light on my mom's thunderbird stereo, which was very similar to my stock stereo. on my '90, all you do is pull the unit out of the dash after removing the trim panel around the stereo/ac controls.. it just snaps on, so pull hard! un bolt the stereo retaining "ears" and pull the unit straight out.. theres a nylon hanger on the back of the unit, too... unplug the wiring harnesses (2) and antenna lead, remove the top panel of the stereo by unscrewing the screws near the top edges.. theres only 4, i think... the bulb sticks into the back of the display.. it looks almost like a miniature taillight.. unscrew that, switch the bulb, replace everything, and youre back in business!

I've heard its possible to change the bulb, but where did you get it, is it a dealer-only item like i've heard it is? Cost?

I got mine from Ford for a whole $1.50. You may be able to get one from Radio Shack.
