industrial dude
Did you have any power loss and can you remove pump by just removing turbo or does intake have to come off too? This thing is making me crazy, my dealer says he has never heard of check ball ciming out. If I don't figure it out soon I will have to bring it to dealer, but then I will be paying 80-100 an hour for them to recheck everything I have checked or replaced.
Thanks
Dale
my mechanic is working on it not me. I couldnt tell you exactly I just know he had to completely remove the intake turbo an I think its under the intake manifold?? dang I was there earlier I was going to take pictures for you and I totally got side tracked I wanted to take a pic of the plug he made on it. As far as the ball bearing I think it just ends up in the oil pan and doesnt cause any harm if it were to cause any harm it wouldve done it on its way down when it spit it out(just assuming) the truck never lost power just made a weird whindy noise like a power steering pump low on fluid. Just go to the 6.0 bible figure out where the HPOP is once you get your hands on it, Tap the hole make sure you dont get metal shavings in there tho, plug it up and you should be good. Im going on monday again and I doubt he will have it put together since its a long weekend so ill try not to forget to take pics.
thanks for the info industrialal dude, I was ready to throw in the towel but maybe I will give it one more shot. I may have a guy with some diesel experience who can help me also, although it is mostly cat, cummins, and detroit. to be losing pressure in this way the guy who put engine together for me says, this should be a substansial leak. the only other place looking at engine system that could bleed of pressure from lower pump are seals and o-rings under filter plate, and it would seem some oil would spray out if this were the case. well, guess I'll enjoy the holiday and resume beating my head against the wall tomorrow. lol. if you do get any pics of the pump and where check ball should go as well as fix for it could you email them to me, ddufr@verizon.net thanks, Dale
