Does 6.0 have two fans?

When my truck starts pulling a big hill with a big load, I hear what sounds like an electric fan turn on and the coolant temperature goes down.

When my truck starts pulling a really big hill with a really big load, I hear (and feel) what sounds like the fan clutch turn on and the coolant temperature goes down real fast.

Does the 6.0L have two fans? Or – does the fan clutch come on a little bit and then kick in big time later? If it has an electric fan, is it programmable with some new tunes from Matt?

I guess I could go look at the truck but I put it in storage about 8 weeks ago when wife had serious heart surgery and I don't want to drive across town just to look. She is doing fabulous now and I'm not only going to go get my truck this weekend, I've been such a good house hubby that I deserve a mileage chip from Spartan.

Loud Fan

If you think that the fan in your F-350 is loud, you ought to hear the fan in my E-350 with the 6.0 right next to the drivers seat.

There is only 1 fan. It is an electronically controlled clutch fan. The computer control can turn it on to a varying degree. That is the different sounds that you are hearing.

Congrats on your wife. Hope she continues to recover well.

Thanks to all for the replies. I’m going to get a setup from Spartan and see if they can turn it on at 215 and turn it off at 205.

Having a serious heart attack (in retrospect) was probably the most life-changing experience in both our lives. I have a list of friends whose first sign of heart trouble was sudden death. Two crumpled in their yard, one fell over at a football game, one sit down to read the paper and “went to sleep, and one was walking across his living room and just fell to the floor. None had any symptoms and all died instantly. No second chance, no "wake-up" call.

My wife, and therefore me too, has changed diet, exercise and entire lifestyle for the (much) better. She had her last visit with the surgeon this week and she has more energy and spirit than she did 30 years ago.

After 43 years of marriage I have realized what I have and what I almost lost. We have a second chance to do it right. If you haven’t kissed your wife today, why are you sitting at a computer? It will always be here.
