Friday my dealer installed a bedliner into my new 2001, F150 SuperCrew with a bed extender. When I went to pick it up, I checked the installation and the function of the bed extender. I was disappointed because the bed extender no longer landed on the rubber mounts on the tailgate, but the bedliner's ridge hit the plastic mount where the rubber mounts fit. This prevents the bed extender from locking without some force to push the whole assembly down farther. I expressed concern that this didn't look right. The sevice representative said that he could not help how the bedliner was constructed and that no one else had complained. I told them that the installation was unacceptable and to remove it. Which they did. The bedliner said Ford on the front but had a Duraliner brand name on it. It may just be a picture difference, but the tailgate piece had horizontal ridges, whereas the picture in the accessories catalog had vertical ridges. I would have expected either or both to have areas flattened where the rubber mounts should hit. The bedliner body did have these flattened areas for the mounts.
Has anybody else found a bedliner that fits the SuperCrew with the bed extender? Does anybody have the tailgate piece with the vertical ridges in the Ford accessories catalog? Does it fit, like it should with the bed extender?
Most bedliners I've seen seem to fit poorly. I'm going to go with a spray-in for my s'crew (picked it up friday and am in heaven). My brother got a line-x spray in in his chevy z-71 and loves it, so that's the route i'm going to go.
Just checked and mine is the "Duraliner" and has the vertical slots on the tailgate. It also has the "flat sections for the extender rubbers on the tailgate and bed. Fits great. Ontario Canada
Is there any chance that you have the part number handy, Ford or Duraliner? My local dealer insisted that the version I had was the only one available. It did not have the flat spots on the tailgate piece. It did have the flat spots on the bed part.
I like the looks of the spray in versions, but I don't think it will handle the purpose of the truck. I generally carry electronic equiptment weighing 50 to 100 pounds. I load it from the back and slide it forward. Several spray in installers have indicated that eventually this would cause the liner to peel.
I've never heard of them peeling, but just because I haven't heard of it doesn't mean it's not true. However, I do know that Line-X gives a lifetime warranty with the liner, so if it did peel, they'd fix it. Good Luck with your truck.
