All the Ford dealer websites are run by FoMoCo. The dealer can customize the site as to prices, other info.

Ed's online catalog (I also looked at the two other FTE sponsors: y2kfordparts and DirectFordParts catalogs) and the Ford parts catalog I have on microfiche slides show F81Z8213AB as the 1999/2007 grille emblem.

What you came up with translates to this:

PLT ASY = Plate Assembly / BK DR = Back Door (or Tailgate) / NM = Name

No dealer website lists what 5C3Z8213AA fits, and where. All the site lists is what you came up with. (SEE EDIT BELOW)

The website inre to F81Z8213AB .. Grille Emblem shows the various years it fits, and this: PLT ASY RAD GRL NM / Plate Assembly, Radiator Grille Name.

I'm not trying to be a wise *** when I say this...but did you get the correct one? It sez: back door (or tailgate) nameplate under the description.

The ID part number you posted: 15402A16 = 15 is the body style, 402A16 is listed in Section 40000 = the back door and tailgate group.

EDIT: Further Info: The Ford dealer national (US) parts locator system sez 5C3Z8213AA fits F450SD & F550SD's only.

The locator shows less than 80 US Ford dealers stocking it, so I doubt it's for anything other than those two big trucks.

The closest dealer to you that stocks 5C3Z8213AA is Watertown Ford in Watertown MA.

The closest dealer to you that stocks F81Z8213AB is Hinder L/M in Bel Air MD.

I agree, something is wrong somewhere. Since every parts dept around here is closed Sunday, all I can do is wait till Monday...will post what I discover.

The OP says the emblem he has is a different part number (5C3Z8213AA) than the one the parts catalog calls for (F81Z8213AB).

I found out the one he has "supposedly" (my term) only fits F450/550's. So...I'm not sure one way or the other.

All I wanna do is make sure ppl get the correct part.

I'm calling a dealer pal on Monday to see what he finds out.

Well, those trucks have the same front grilles (or at least look the same). So why would the front emblem be different? They don't have tailgates until 08, so that's out, or back door Ford emblems. And the fact remains that the 05 and up is different from the 99-04? Who'd guessed that this would be this interesting?

That description can only translates to "Plate Assembly Back Door Name"

The US Ford dealer parts locator network shows as a description for 5C3Z8213AA as fitting F450/550SD's.

Dunno what's right, because I haven't got any to look at in person.

All I know is that 4 Ford parts catalogs (three online, and my personal Genuine Ford on microfiche slides catalog) all list the same part number: F81Z8213AB.

LOLOL!! How many Ford's have you owned?? Scheiss...Ford is the absolute worst for changing/updating/listing part numbers.

Some have three different numbers for one stupid part for one year only! Before serial number this, between serial number this and that, after serial number that.

The whole chittery gives me a pain...but here I am, still grumpin' along!

 

Seems this part was correct for his application, don't know about the number differences though.
