Ive got a Cobra 29Ltd.. My parents drive OTR and thats what they use and believe me, they can afford whatever one they want.. Its a great unit and has quite a following.. Its fairly easy to get turned up at a shop as well.. I wish it had a WX band, but oh well.. Not sure where/how to mount it (unit and ant) in the new rig (02 250 CC), ideas??

I've got a Cobra 19DXIII that is a cheapo POS with an equally cheap mag mount on the roof. I really want to upgrade to at least a 25 or better Cobra and get dual antennas on the back. Right now the cheapo is hanging on a bracket screwed into the trash hook. Figured its the cheapest place to put screw holes in the dash I'm happy to have the cheapo rig actually, cause its easy to hook up and even ghetto-tuned it works well up to about a mile line-of-sight, so I can give it to whoever I'm roadtripping with and viola, insta-comm.
I'm going to mount my antennas on the bedrails right in front of the toolbox. Hopefully they'll be Firestiks, Ive heard good things about those.

I have a Cobra 25 LTD Wx Classic. 40 channels plus 7 weather things. Also have a Wilson 5000 mag mount antenna. As far as why I chose that one, Wal-Mart had it in stock and looked decent, have had it for about 10 years or so. Also have a 125 watt linear, but that is not hooked up at the moment. Got the antenna and linear at a CB shop.

While's it's now long since discontinued I have a Ranger '2970'. I originally got it for the built in side band, echo and freq counter. It wound up being cheaper than my older Cobra 148 after making the other mods.
I think it's a stronger unit than the cobra's - or at least was in it's day.

My first choice and one I use the most is Galaxy.

I also have a couple of Cobra Classics that have been great.
Granted, all my CB's were tweaked on at the time of purchase, so I have no clue how they perform in stock form.

Crackhead1 I took 2" flat Aluminimum metal and built a bracket in the shape of a 'H' with two legs bended off the bracket running it to the bolts that are under the middle seat. And then i took a 5 dollar cb mount (could have made one but I already had one so I used that) that allows the screws to hold the radio on to a dash board and i bolted it to the H bracket. So the radio sits flush with the middle seat in my '00 SD Crew Cab and then ran the power wires and coax under the carpet and floor mats.

Uniden PC68XL. It's got more than enough features for me. Dad bought it back in the late '80's when we moved cross-country so he could get reports and other information from the truckers. I just installed it in my truck a couple months ago, and it does great for what I use it for. Talking to my friends while on fourwheeling trips, listening to bear reports when Im on the highway, or for just listening....

I run a old Galaxy 88 bought it used in 94 had a few mods done to it. I used to drive over the road so this radio has a lot of miles on it about a million or so.The only problems with it was a light bulb on the strength meter, and the internal speaker died.I have it mounted on a piece of 3/4" birch that is mounted to the floor with L brackets in front of the center seat . I have a big mag mount on the roof with an antenna that is very similar to the old Penitrator with a swr between 1-1.5 I can talk between 10 - 15 miles .

MARTYSTOWRIG, On top of my cobra 148GTL , I also have a cobra all-in one hand held. It has 40 chanels and I think 8 or 10 weather chanels. I have in in my Jeep TJ. It's a space thing in the Jeep TJ. But It works really good and Not hard to put in to. The biggest thing I tell people is get your SRW"s toon in right OR go to a CB shop and they will toon it for you.
