Thanks Don, you all be safe too. 5,000 is doing some serious seat time. i haven't really tried the 80e yet for long distances (i think i've had 3 full tanks of fuel since i got it) soo i'm anxious too to see what it will do. like i said, i will pull this thread back from the grave to update
I'll be interested in seeing how your trip turns out. I'm going on a big-time road trip at the end of July.
We are heading to Indiana to visit relatives, and will be going Hwy 40 on the way there. We'll be taking the niece and nephew to see Grand Canyon, Painted Desert and Petrified Forest on the way.
After 4 days or so in Indiana visiting, we will come back Hwy 80. Planning Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone, and anything else that sparks our fancy!! We are looking at about 5,000 miles in 2 weeks.
This will be the first real test with the Excursion. Going to Santa Barbara, I have been able to average 17.2 mpg. I just installed DP Tuner, and I hope the 80 e tune, along with some serious highway miles, kicks that up to 19 or so!!
Have a great trip, and keep the shiny side up!
Man, that sounds like a great trip, but to enjoy that you should spend at least and I mean at least 6 weeks.
Will your going to go thru Tazwell and Morristown ain't you? Your going to go about 20 miles from the house your gonna have to let me know when you come down this way if I am off I'll have to come up and meet you . I plan on doing the same trip in late september maybe. Have fun down there and be sure to smoke out a few ricer boys .

Mark:
Would LOVE to take 6 weeks, but kids have school, and we will be pulling the trailer to Carpinteria State Beach when we get back for the week of August 10-16. So, I'm burning 3 weeks of vacation as it is. And I only get 3 weeks a year as it is. The good thing is I'll still have 1+ week of accrued vacation, and my anniversary is August 15, so I'll have another 3 weeks.
Maybe after the kids are out, a 6 week trip will be in the works. The wife and I were just looking at cruises and such before Childrens' Services brought us the kids. You know how it goes: We make plans, and God laughs!
Hell yes they do...lol...i'll be in old myrtle beach the 10th-14th of july... I really hope they like the black smoke down at the beach as they do up here in the mountains...

I guess there's nothing left to do, but give 'em what they want!

Will, it sounds like we should all head down to Myrtle. Could you imagine the strip lined up with 7.3's. It's a beautiful thing. We could talk Jody into having "Smokin' in Sand". lol
