I spent the entire summer '04 in South Myrtle Beach. You'll be amazed at the number of PSD's in that town. I drive Charlotte to Buffalo (700 miles) non stop several times a year. I stop for nothing, not even to ****, have a **** bottle and eat dried fruit. Stay in the 1800 rpm range and you will end up with extra money when you get back home. I've been able to coax 24 mpg out of mine on more than one occasion.
35"s and 3:73, your rpms should be about 1800 rpm at 70mph, about 2200 rpm is 80 for me..I have the odometer comped to the tire size, and verified with GPS. hope that helps.
Thanks Pat, that's what i need to do. I saved someones Amsoil tire size recalculator, but it doesn't give rpms. I think i'm going to go to the dealer this week and get the ABS recal'd so it'll be right and maybe get the DP to shift a lil better haha
nah family trip but my moms gettin me my own room for me and 3 of my buddies. haha i really thought i was the only senior who just graduated who loves these trucks as much as i do. good to see some more young kids with a good hobby (or money pit haha)
You've got that right kid, you think this is bad try going real fast in a drag car and support a wife and 3 kids at the same time............LOL............
haha see mark i got it all planned out... i start getting the truck done NOW (DP, trans, sticks, oil) all that jazz and then when it comes time for kids and wife, all i have to do is preven. maintenance haha

LMAO............who are you trying to fool? Yourself, me, or the rest of the members here. Maybe your bride to be when you find her? It won't work!!! I'm not making this up, your post just caused me to actually laugh for the first time in days. For that, I gotta say thank you.
Haha you are welcome but it sounds like a good plan to me... maybe i'll find a wife like Lisa.....
Good luck, you just insist on keeping me laughing today. She not only owns a PSD, but has a lovely a$$ to go along with it. Now you talk about an OT thread, someone here sure is guilty as sin.
Haha maybe a lil guilty... i got close to Lisa.. i found a girl with a lifted 4x4 Tacoma... now if i can just find a girl like that with a personality to go along with it we'd be talking.
These trucks are great for road trips! I work out of state, so I usually do a 400 mile or so trip every couple weeks. If you stay on smaller highway's, (~65mph), 24mpg is pretty easy. I know I got that going between Farmington and Walsenburg alot. It's the 80mph jaunt on the interstates that'll kill your mileage. And your 35's are about 9% bigger around than stockers, (assuming ride heights are as advertised, though they're usually not). So multiply a speed by 1.09 and that's how fast your going - 70 on the speedo = 76.3. Works for the odo too. My mileage numbers were with the 35's, but I've got 4.10's too, so you might do better!
Yea i used the mileage calculator and was multiplying by 1.08 so i was close haha that's fuel mileage numbers multiplied i must be doing something wrong with only 16. I figured the speedo was about 5 off so i will adjust for that too (radar detectors are illegal in VA so im SOL haha) i will post up what i get though and pull this thread back up when i make the trip. Does anyone have a calculator for gear ratio changes too??
Try this - 4Lo.com :: Final Gear Ratio, Crawl Ratio, Tire Size Calculators
If your trying to adjust your gears for the bigger tires to bring RPM's - speed back to stock, it's the same percentages.
So if you want to adjust your gears for 35's multiply you current ratio by 1.09 = 4.07.
I'll be interested in seeing how your trip turns out. I'm going on a big-time road trip at the end of July.
We are heading to Indiana to visit relatives, and will be going Hwy 40 on the way there. We'll be taking the niece and nephew to see Grand Canyon, Painted Desert and Petrified Forest on the way.
After 4 days or so in Indiana visiting, we will come back Hwy 80. Planning Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone, and anything else that sparks our fancy!! We are looking at about 5,000 miles in 2 weeks.
This will be the first real test with the Excursion. Going to Santa Barbara, I have been able to average 17.2 mpg. I just installed DP Tuner, and I hope the 80 e tune, along with some serious highway miles, kicks that up to 19 or so!!
