Just Bought A SD HPOP...

I have Rubberduck's write up on how to to it:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...-part-1-a.html

Does anyone have anything else to add to it or something else I should do while im in there? I plan on cleanig up the fuel bowl and im going to look at my lines and see if they need replacing.

Do I need a IPR from a SD or will mine work?

Got to love E-bay, Brand new still in the box SD HPOP for 310 but I have a coupon and it made it under 289 shipped.

Thanks for the help.
John

Awesome deal. You should be fine with the instructions. tjbeggs has some torque specs in his pics I believe. That also helped me. Your IPR will work in the SD pump. You will just have to change out your connections from your stock pump.

Good luck. It is not hard just get an old comforter to throw on the radiator and a heavy cooler or chairs to stand on. I prefer the heavy cooler idea 'cause it must be full to be heavy. LOL

Some when making the change remove the check valves (2)
to help with oil flow. I have not tried this.

Is changing the connectors on the IPRs pretty stright foward? Or is there a trick to it?

Ill look into the check valve thing and see what its about.

Thanks again.

IPR connectors? Both pumps use the same IPR, the connections are the same.

The check valve is just a spring with a disc on one end. Leave it out you don't want the restriction.

Now it makes sense, Neal was talking about the connections for the high pressure oil lines, not IPR connectors.

Here's a picture that shows both the SD and OBS pumps and the oil line fittings. The SD comes with quik connects and OBS uses AN fittings. As you can see I've already put the OBS fittings on the SD pump. When you remove the fittings you'll see the checkvalve.

Thanks for th info.

Will taking out those check valves make it take as long to start as the 99+ do? I always make fun of my buddies for how long it takes to start.

Yes I did leave the springs and check valve thingy's out on mine.

And No it won't take long to start it should start even quicker and better. Mine did. Also do the HP oil crossover (HPX) to get it started quicker and smoother.
