93 Rag Joint Replacement

I'm getting ready to replace the rag joint on my 93 but I'm not 100% sure how to get the old one off. I searched around and I think that there are some rivets holding the old one on that need to be cut off, then the new one bolts on. Is this correct?

I got a kit at NAPA for my 79, had to grind 2 rivets then bolt everything together it was all in the kit. Cost around 13 bucks. get the kit first then you can see what you have to do.

I thought that 93's had u-joints in the shaft with no rag joint.

My 94 rag joint is in great shape. If you are chasing steering slack be sure it is not the gear box.

I was thinking that. I have replaced the box before but it was with a used unit. I'm having front end noises right now. I think it might be the steering box or axle pivot bushigs, or a combination of both...

Be sure the three bolts through the frame into the steering box are tight. Loose ones cause popping noises when turning.

There is no separate rag joint available for Bronco's from Ford.

It's part of and sold as part of the steering shaft & coupling assembly only.

**Update**

I laid under the truck this morning while my son turned the wheel form side to side. I found out that my radius arm bushings are making my front end noise. I'm off to advance to get some replacements.....
