edge evolution

I have a stock 01 7.3 thinking about buying one of these to try to boost my mileage a little bit. Pro's and con's and how much mileage increase should i expect. I am planning on leaving the intake and exhaust stock.

there are better tuners for our 7.3. Many guys in here have had the Edge, and they have a DP-TUNER now once they found out what is best. Do yourself a favor and listen to these guys, we done all the trial and error for you guys.

But if you plan on leaving the intake and exhaust stock, I suggest a set of gauges, so you can monitor your EGTs, trans temp, and boost.

I'm a seasoned newbie...hey that's a new category...what I mean is I spent a lot of time reading thru the threads asking questions here and there. Here's my 0.02$

I'd do an intake and exhaust modification first. Then buy a tuner. I actually did this in reverse because I didn't find this site until after I bought the tuner. If I had it to do over again, knowing what I know about my truck, I'd do the exhaust first and intake first, then buy a DP.

BTW, look at my gallery for some duck hunting pics.

Sorry, I didn't answer your question.
I saw a real difference in performance with the Max Tuner w/o modified exhaust and intake. But I didn't see much of a difference in Fuel economy. I got about 14mpg before and 15mpg after. But my tuner is not one of the best.

I have the Edge EVO 2 and when the time is right i will be getting a DP but I'm keepng the edge for the gauges. I had the tuner before I got my intake and exhaust(didnt run much in anything past the tow setting). My opinion the tow setting sucks, no difference in anything. I do have a 6 speed. I never really keep a close eye on my mileage because that was back when diesel was cheap! Now that I have my exhaust and intake and the other mods in my sig I get between 17 and 18mpg going back and forth to work, not in any stoplights there. I run mine in the race setting all the time and try to keep my foot out of it. In my opinion if you have the funds for the gauges that you will definetly need with any chip or programmer then go with the DP. Youll probably get better mileage with one of their ECO tunes. The Edge is not a bad beginner programmer for somebody on a budget but like I said mine will eventually be powered by DP! The diagnostics with the Edge is really nice also. Everything has its pros and cons I guess though.

Been runnning the evo for a year now. 2001, 4WD, Auto. I've noticed no increase in MPG on any settings. I plan to get a DP and keep the evo for gauges/code reader just like King. If I were to do it again I would save up and get the DP, gauges, and an AE.

If you are really concerned with mileage.......plan on exhaust AND intake, they are very important! OEM intake on our trucks is often referred to the "squirrel trap" for good reason! It suuuuuuuuucks

Well, I have to put my .02 in here, I just sold my Edge Juice, and I really liked it, It did add 100 miles to the tank, but I decided to go with the DP Tuner, and it really makes a big difference. The 80 Econ tun has more power than the Edge did in the 100hp mode. Plus you can add tunes at any time, Plus, What I went with was cheaper than the Edge was to start with when I bought it. Plus, with the Edge, you have to park, and change your tune,DP, just let off the "GO" pedal and Whalah.....You have a different setting.....It is up to you, I have had both, But I would advise The DP........

Uhh, what they ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ said. Might be a little more expensive to get the chip, monitors and code reader seperate, but you will not be sorry and with the DP-Tuner, you add programs, and even better, get live tuning, truly custom tuning, just for your truck.

I do have a complaint tho, Ever since I put my DP on my truck, I am using MORE fuel... But the Real complaint is with my right foot. It seems so happy when its above the pedal, and it just haves to push harder than it used too. So I guess my complaint is,that my foot is happy....... I like happy feet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
