Hello everybody,
I seem to recall somebody posting the information on a specific TSB that included the recommended repair, but I've searched the forum for over an hour now and I can't find the thread.
The TSB that I'm referencing is located here.
It's description is:
<table style="border: 1px solid black;"><tbody><tr><td>TSB data for: 2001 FORD EXPEDITION</td></tr> <tr><td>Bulletin Number: 15395</td></tr> <tr><td>Sequence Number: 630410</td></tr> <tr><td>Date: 20011101</td></tr> <tr><td>Component Name: 341000 COMMUNICATIONS:HORN ASSEMBLY</td></tr> <tr><td>Make: FORD</td></tr> <tr><td>Model: EXPEDITION</td></tr> <tr><td>Year: 2001</td></tr> <tr><td>Summary:</td></tr> <tr><td>SOME VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT A WEAK HORN CHIRP CONFIRMATION WHEN THE TRANSMITTER IS USED TO LOCK THE DOORS AND/OR AN INOPERATIVE HORN WHEN THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING. *TT</td></tr></tbody></table>
Can somebody tell me how to fix this? It's been a minor annoyance for a long time now, and I would like to fix it.
The problem that I'm having specifically is a weak to non-existent horn chirp when I lock the doors from the transmitter (key fob). This is especially apparent when the ambient temperature is hot. So it works fine during the winter, but not at all during the summer.
My horn sounds great when I use it while driving by the way.
Any help (Especially instructions on how to fix this!!) would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, projectSHO89!
I'm afraid of cutting/splicing any wires when I really don't know what I'm doing though. I have some wiring diagrams in the back of my shop manual, but I've no idea how to read it to be honest.
I guess I'll just deal with it.
