How many horses?

How many horses does the V10 have? The Superduty brochure says 362, the Ford Fleet website says:
<table id="tablegeneral" border="1" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr bgcolor="#cccccc"><th colspan="2"> Engine Type - 8th Position </th></tr> <tr><td>VIN Code:</td><td>Y</td></tr> <tr><td>Engine:</td><td>6.8 L </td></tr> <tr><td>Cylinders:</td><td>10 </td></tr> <tr><td>Fuel:</td><td>Gasoline </td></tr> <tr><td>Horsepower:</td><td>305 HORSEPOWER </td></tr> <!-- Section for position 10 --> <tr bgcolor="#cccccc"><th colspan="2"> Model Year - 10th Position </th></tr> <tr><td>VIN Code:</td><td>8</td></tr></tbody></table>Typo? Found decoder here:https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenan...ls/default.asp

Depends on the year. My 02 has 315. It's gone up a little bit almost every year.

In '05 and after the V10 has 3 valves instead of 2, and the higher horsepower rating.

I believe that the 305 hp is for the 2 valve engines which are still available in the E series and possibly motorhomes. All of the 3 valve engines are for the F series trucks and are 362 hp.

Yeah, that's for the E-series van, which has the 2-valve V10.

For your viewing pleasure...here are the 2V HP/Trq curves for model years 2000 and later V10s (i.e. NOT 3V)

I do not have a curve for the 3V but the data says (Output is 362 hp @ 4750 RPM and 457 ft·lbf @ 3250 RPM)

That's obviously not a "correct" dyno chart since torque and HP only cross as 5252RPM. It's more like a graph representation. Still yet, good post Joe.

I believe (maybe incorrectly) that the leftmost graph line is actually 1000RPMs and not 0 thus they cross at ~4000 since peak Trq is 3250rpm...thoughts?

I could be mistaken though...in my interpretation of the data...

But none of this 2v vs 3v stuff should really matter to us X owners, since the 3v was never offered in the Excursion.

2005 Specs
- 6,754 cc 6.8 liters V 10 front engine with 90.2 mm bore, 105.7 mm stroke, 9 compression ratio, overhead cam and two valves per cylinder 99S
Power: 231 kW , 310 HP SAE @ 4,250 rpm; 425 ft lb , 576 Nm @ 3,250 rpm

I would have liked a 2door X like the older full size bronce. If Ford made a 2door expedition I would buy one. Loved the Broncos.

I agree the X should still be in production.

Personally, I would rather have the Torqshift over the 3V if I had to choose between the two. Wish they woulda done that.

My experiences towing with the 2V thru the Big Horns and Rockies (~9700' climbs) would say that either would improve things but BOTH would be KILLER.

The 4 speed is 'okay' ... BUT 1st and 2nd are spaced WAY too far apart.

The 3V from what I hear from my buds that have them prefers a slightly lower RPM (3000) as the 'low' spot for power over the 2V (3200)...that makes a big difference when pulling heavy on a steep grade...

BUT I guess the torque shift with the tow/haul mode alone could be more beneficial...all I know is those extra ~22ft-lbs of torque and 52HP would be nice to have sometimes!...so for me it would be a toss up I guess as I see both having advantages...but BOTH together...man that would have been killer in the EX!!!

I'm like Monsta - if I had the choice I'd choose the Torque shift. I think the raw HP/TQ difference between the 2v and 3v are minimal - the HP/TQ 'at the wheels' difference is probably delivered from the Torque Shift tranny.
