Hi guys, I'm usually down in the slick 60's forums, but have a question that I can't find an anwer to in the searches I've done.
My q is this does the raised lip on the ring gear of a 460, go toward, or away from the block on installation. It only makes sense too me that it goes away, as the plate sits flush on the crank that way.
I know this is re-tarded but I,m having major tranny issues on a 550-600 HP 460. I,ve taken out 2 B+M C-6's, and 2 torque converters, along with the original c-6+conv.
I'm grasping @ straws......
Could this flex plate be the cause.....it is not warped or bent (NEW)
ANY HELP....PLEASE
Not sure if it would be in the same as yours but on my 429 (in a boat) the outer ring lip that has the starter teeth faces the motor and the flush side that has the spot welds on it faces the transmission or jet in my case. hope it helps.
Be sure to check out the torque converter to crankshaft fit! I had a 429/C6 in my truck and changed over to a 460. I started having starter prblems and wearing out flexplates, couldn't figure it out until I noticed pic's on a 429 site that showed the difference. The torque conveter will not seat into the 460 crankshaft properly causing the flexplate to do a lot of "flexing".
No more problems now...
