I searched several threads to find this answer but no luck yet. I have a '79 F250, 460, manual that I want to switch over to a C6. As I understand it, any 400 or 460 4x4 C6 will work? Are there two different output shaft lengths? I'm in Alaska so I'd like to get the parts right the first time. My list:
auto steering column
different brake pedal assembly
kick down linkage
flex plate
neutral safety switch wiring
I'm having my left knee replaced so the clutch has got to go!
You shouldn't have any wiring to your trans at all. You may also need a different drive shafts and cross member. If I rember correctly you should have a t-18 if so the t-18 is shorter than a c6.
I think the starters are different between the manual and auto.
Auto cooling lines typically go through the radiator for cooling. Either you'll have to swap out the rad or add a trans cooler to the front of it.
