It's been the better part of 15 years since I've done a 460 swap, and it was always a 2wd truck engine to 4wd truck. This time I have a 1970 460 out of a Lincoln. As far as the actual engine build and install, I'm ok on mounts, accessory clearances, passenger mani clearance, go fast parts, etc. My question comes from the flex plate and torque convertor. Will I be able to use the current flex plate on the 460 and the torque convertor that's currently behind a 400 in my 79 150 4x4. Sorry for the rookie question, but I don't have either engine pulled yet and wanted to make sure I have everything squared away before I get to a problem and I have to wait a couple days on parts. Want to get this done in an afternoon. Thanks for the help.
From what I have heard it is hit or miss. Some converters will fit the 460 that was originally behind a 351M or 400 while some will not. I don't have my 351M pulled yet to know if my converter will fit my 460.

And that's what I had gathered too. Any 460 I snagged from a truck was no issue...but that was generally a 78/9 2wd truck to a 78/9 4wd truck. But using a 460 10 years older and from a Lincoln, I reckon I won't hold my breath.
Anyone know where I could find the Lincoln TC specs???
I'm getting ready to put a 460 in a 1975 Highboy. The 460 is from a 1972 Continental and still has the converter hanging on it. Need a measurement or anything?
The studs on the Lincoln converter are on an 11.5 inch bolt circle.
Much appreciated good sir.

Central NC. Haven't decided if I'm gonna sell it yet. Keep it as a spare or back up. Great engine, one of my first actual builds, it's seen a few different renditions over the last 5-6 years. I've taken it as far as I can without going with a TMI 434 or Barnett stroker. Flat tops, aussies, DEH265 kit, modified TA, blah blah blah. Just doesn't make financial sense to keep going with it. But I do have several other rigs with 400's in them, so it wouldn't go to waste.
