we just moved to a new apartment complex, and we are not allowed to use charcoal grill, given that we are located right next to the office, i couldn't get away with it if i tried, before i get rid of a perfectly good 2007 father's day gift and get a new grill: anybody know of any ways or ideas to convert a charcoal grill to propane.
it's just a webber grill, and since we're not living here for ever i would like to try this, so later i can go back to charcoal. charcoal bbq taste so much better.

thanks all and HAPPY FATHER'S DAY.
I would just buy a small gas one and store the weber for future use..
Are you sure you can even have a gas one??
Most apartment buildings and cities around here prohibit them because they cause fires, when used on balconies/porches..
What do you do if the grease flares up and the flames are shooting up?
Usually the balcony above you gets torched..
I would go and buy a small tabletop propane grill; uses the little torch cylinders. Not too much of a threat of fire due to the size. Save the big grill for wherever you move next!
I would avoid the small table top grill since they are not very durable and those little cannisters don't last long. If you must use a small grill, get a propane big tank adapeter so at least you aren't spending a fortune on gas.
I would recommend a small gas grill using the big tanks. They work fairly well.
There are a few table top gas grills that run off the big tanks, that might be an option but usually they are more expensive than the regular size ones.
Wood burning is as bad or worse than charcoal burning as far as apartment grilling goes.So just save the Weber for later. They almost never wear out so it will wait for you.
we can have propane and gas grills in the appartments, they're ok with those it's just because you can't just turn the charcoal off that they have a problem. i was already warned once because they saw me bringing it in.
i think my best bet is to go get a new one. i've alredy been looking around and i think i saw one that i can fit into my spending budget. i missed grilling this weekend so something must be done....
thanks for all the replys and the links....
I agree "keep the grill for later use" purchase a gas grill to use there. I know it doesn't taste the same but with restrictions you'll have to go with the flow.
