I'm considering replacing stock exhaust. Is a muffler required by law or is it just a noise decible law?

It depens on the state. In some states the turbocharger is considered a muffling device.

I dont know if the law states you need a muffler or not but I did not want to take a chance and I did not want an extra loud truck. It was more personal prefference for me.

I busted out and ordered a single 4" exhaust today with guages/Apost, etc. from RPM in Houston. Comes with high flow muffler which I'll use just to be safe. Got everything out delivered for $586
