Well Bryce, the price at shockwarehouse is about $64 a shock for the heavy duty, if you have a cheaper place with that price i'd appreciate a pm on it, thank you.
You're right. it is closer to $250 for a set. Either way, it's worth it.
I know I'm late to join in, but I too went for the Bilsteins, and I never realised an F250 could be termed 'comfortable' - infact my '99 rides way nicer than our works 2008 Ram 3500 (which i had the displeasure of driving 500 miles in recently)...
Ok, I need some help from you guys. I have a 2006 F250 super cab 6.0, with the snow plow prep package. I think this gives me a heavier rated spring, but I am not sure. I ended up installing a Procomp leveling kit, which is a 1" block in the rear and a 2" in the front. It came with MX6 Adjustable shocks. The truck now rides like a brick, and it is starting to wear thin on me. In your opinion do you think it is the shock causing this issue? Even at full soft it is still so damn stiff. If I switched to the bilstein would it make a difference? Also, there is now more play in the steering. What happened here? Thanks
Yep, I did that as well. Taking the old one off was a breeze - and speaking of breeze, air was all that was acting as the damping agent in that POS...
I also got the damper from shock warehouse as a $35 unit - I also ordered the 'boot' for the damper at $8 or so...
Reason I changed the damper is I've been around Landrovers / Range Rovers for years, and if the damper goes bad in these, the vehicle drives like a real POS - anythign over 60mph is very nervy! Clearly, the F250 isn't as critical to it, but changing it did make a noticable difference - no more tramlining or 'shimmying' over bumps - just straight-ahead driving....
Definately change this unit is my advice, but don't go mad on a quality branded pretty unit - the $35 monroe unit is perfect.
