I have a set of Skyjacker Nitro 8000 shocks (from a previous project). My 02 PSD 4x4 w/leveling kit needs new shocks.
Will these shocks work?
How do you determine what shocks work on modified suspension?
I usually pull out a couple of manufacture's catalogs, find the spec's for the shocks that should be on the vehicle with your lift and compare that to other shocks' specs.
Extended and collapsed length the only numbers you can do much with, unless your shocks are rebuildable. So find your extended and collapsed height, (squeeze them down and measure, then pull them apart and measure.) Then find your application in the book and see if they match up. I would stay with in about an inch of recommended. However, with an average 2" leveling kit, the app guides will most likely recommend a stock length shock.
