6x9's?

Quick question: will a pair of 6x9's fit in the stock rear speaker location of a 92-96 Supercab?

no, 6x9s dont fit without modifications, but 6x8s will. pioneer has some 3 way speakers built just for ford, and other companys might build them but i dont know. But as for the 6x9s they wont work unless you make the hole bigger.

What's involved in making the hole larger and how hard is it to do? It's either that or buying a couple of 6x8's.

6x9's?

I don't own a super cab truck, but what i would do is check to make sure i wasn't going to cut through anything important, before i even considered the job. If that checks out I would center the 6x9 over the hole and trace around the outside of it. That will give you the hole size, note: cut it a little smaller than the out line or the 6x9 wont fit, and your mount would be ruined. If you look at the back of the speaker, there is a "lip" where the screw holes are. you need to cut the hole so that the "lip" isn't through the hole.......

anyway, like i said i haven't don it, and don't own a super cab...

My ford is an Aerostar.......

Maybe i was some help, but maybe somebody else can help more.

Regards,
MD

I don't know if thats a good idea, It's hard to cut the sheetmetal back there and you'll drop metal chips down inside the trim. Is it really worth all that work for an extra inch? I got some 6x8 pioneers and they are perfectly fine w/ my 10" sub.

Primary rig is:
95' F-150 EB 300/6 5 spd with 4" Superlift, MSD, Ram Air, Gibson Exhaust, and coming are some BFG MEATS

Then theres:
88' F-250 Superduty 351 + c6
92' Thunderbird 3.8L V-6 FOR SALE!
95' Mercury Cougar 4.6L V-8
80' E-350 300/6 and a
3 spd column shifter baby.

The newest addition to the Ford family is a 99' Mustang GT 4.6L

Yo....it's called a Die Grinder!! use it. We have one in my high school auto class, adn they work wonders on any job...and it will let u grind away at the side of the mounting area. just make sure to leave room to mount it with screws or bolts. but i don't see why it won't fit? I have a friend with a 91' ford extended cab and he put 10" subs with amp. in it...i think that is even better than 6x9's, but it's your choice...but ya...u can do it if u use a grinding tool with a rounded end, just round it out.....hope it works for u....laterz:-X11

id get some memphis highs, get the ones to fit the stock location, you need to drill new holes in the front two speaker spots, they got swivel tweeters, loud as hell , two tens under the seat in the back will even everything out, the you will have a badass system
