I've been thinking about it and I'm wondering if I installed my end links upside down.... could someone take a quick look at their end links and see if mine are upside down or not?
Mine have the straight portion at the top and the bent part at the bottom. I bought the truck used, but, judging from the condition of my bushings (really bad) I don't think mine have ever been off of the truck.
Here is a pic of my frontend before I bought it. You can kind of see the endlink on the passenger side. Maybe it will help.
Yeah that helps.... it looks like your pic shows the curved part at the bottom, and the "wide" end is at the bottom too. Opposite of mine. And, I found this pic on the web that shows the same thing.
So, unless somebody chimes in that there's are installed like mine are above, I think I'm gonna swap them around... Anybody else get a chance to sneak a peek at their end links? Thanks!
To be honest with that last picture I would leave it like you have it. Even if his is "right" it reduces the clearance to the spring. I don't like the way it looks. Also with an endlink, and especially now that you have the poly bushings, it really doesn't matter functionally like that. If your's clears the spring ok, like I figure it does (you don't have a far back picture to see), I wouldn't touch it. I'll get a better picture of mine for comparison.
i looked at the picture of the truck with the leveling kit and that does'nt look good.(the leaf spring is higher on the bend) but your truck is stock like mine so i would flip yours.
Thanks guys! Sounds like mine are definitely backwards from the way Ford put 'em in so I'm kind of leaning toward changing them back. I'm going to lay under there and have a look today, with suspension flex in mind, and decide what to do.
Ok... while I was out & about today I looked at three other F250's and saw that their end links were installed with the wider part & the curve at the bottom, opposite of mine.
And, I spent quite a bit of time laying under mine trying to decide what would be best. Honestly, I think they would be fine either way, I couldn't see any reason why they wouldn't work the way I had them. And, as aldridgec said, it looks like they might clear the springs better installed incorrectly. But, for no other reason than to keep it the way Ford built it, I swapped 'em around.
I just did mine yesterday, and they are they way you have them now, they had the pressed in bolt in the skinny end that was at the top. Sure looks weird to see the exhaust coming down like that on a superduty haha
