Hi guys, I think i'm having a problem with my truck buring too much gas. I got 9.45 mpg on my 2000 x with V10 and 3.73's. over the last week i drove 200 miles i will say 70% city and 30% highway. on the streets I dont go over 1800 rpm's when taking off and on highway I cruse at 65 mph. My overhead computer says i get 411 miles out of a full tank of gas. I would like to know what your computer says with a full tank of gas? Also I just fixed a stucked calliper and cleaned my k and n air filter full tank mile went from 391 to 411 miles on full tank. I dont think this is normal if you guys could tell me what to check under the hood I would like that.
A stuck caliper is enough to drop the mpg's you are describing. Also if you are running a k&n filter you may need to clean the MAF more often. At 80,000 It wouldn't hurt to go ahead and do a tune-up. Also when you replace the plugs make sure you go ahead and replace the boots.
My 01 gets me 13.7 around town (mixed driving) and I've seen >16 cruising on the open hiway. Are you resetting the MPG computer with each refill? Have you confirmed the calculations by hand?
The trick to getting better around town mileage is getting it up to 40MPH ASAP and getting it into overdrive. I would love it if I could get OD to come on sooner, like 33-35 under light throttle.
yes it is 4X4. What could cause this horible mpg. also i do the calculation by hand
Have you checked to make sure your hubs are unlocked (free)? That can chew in to some MGPs real fast if they are locked. If you have any doubt, reach behind the wheel and see if you can spin the front axle (you have to check both sides).

Sounds about right to me.
With 95% city driving I am getting 8.2 mpg on winter blend fuel, and 8.3 mpg on summer blend.
